From November into December
It’s hard to believe that we’re already on the fourth month of the school year! It’s so exciting to see the amazing ways our students have grown in all capacities and how our school and classrooms have evolved since September. As we come into the winter, we see our shelves growing with more works, materials becoming more complex, exploration deepening, and learning happening in so many different ways. At this time of the year, we’re also very much acquainted with our peers and have blossomed so many loving and compassionate relationships with both our friends and teachers. Check out some of the amazing new things we’re doing in our Sycamore and Dogwood classrooms!
The Sycamores baking some yummy pumpkin bread.
We had so much fun baking! The Sycamores did a wonderful job taking turns and exploring the baking process. We plan to do another baking project before the holiday break. We would love it if a family who lives close by could volunteer to take a tray of gingerbread men home to bake for us, as we only have a toaster oven at school. Please let us know if you might be able to help! We'll have everything set up for you to pop in the oven.
Counting to 5 in Spanish with Ms. Angelica
We have Spanish circle time every Wednesday. This week we learned: uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco!
Playing with cooked spaghetti in the sensory bin! 🍝
Even in the sensory bin, we are working with touching new textures, fine motor control and more! The language around playing with cooked spaghetti is as unique and varied as you might think!
Gross motor materials
We have also added a lot of new gross motor activities! On the new balance board and bike, the kids are practicing their gross motor skills, turn taking and language and math as they ask for a turn, count till their turns, and discuss the bike and board!
Using tweezers to pull corn kernels off the cob
The Dogwood class has been very busy these past few weeks! We have introduced a lot of new fine motor works, including this tweezer work to pull corn kernels from the cob. A lot of members of the class have taken turns taking kernels off. We have taken almost every one off!
Our caring doctors help the patient at her annual check-up!
We also turned our dramatic play area into a doctor’s office. There have been a lot of appointments this month for medicine, shots, temperature checks and newborn check -ups.
