Our Program

A nature-based Montessori preschool program serving the Ridgewood-Bushwick community. We have one Seedling classroom of toddler 2’s and two mixed-age classes of 3’s and 4’s for the fall of 2024. Our regular school day runs from 8:45 - 3pm with the option for early day drop-off starting at 8am and extended day pickup ending at 6pm. Our school year runs from September through June and we run a summer program for our families.

  • Montessori Approach

The Montessori work-cycle is a beautiful and harmonious time for children to learn to work independently on the different curricular areas of the classroom. We follow each student as they discover their interests and explore independent learning. Our teachers create a prepared-environment with works in practical life, sensorial, math, language, culture, art and peace areas with materials that engage and cultivate life skills for our students.

  • Nature-based Curriculum

Our classroom follows the rhythm and cycles of nature and strive to bring as much of the out-of-doors inside. In the fall, we conduct investigative studies of pumpkins and apples. In the spring, we plant various seeds and learn about what they need to grow. During our time in our community greenspaces, we take a pause to smell, touch, hear, and look at all the living things that surround us. Our care of small plants and animals help us become future stewards of our world.

  • Play and Exploration

    Play and Exploration

We believe children learn best through play and exploration of materials. We balance our Montessori work cycle with building materials such as blocks and Magnatiles. We have dramatic play areas to encourage interactive story-telling as the children's language abilities develop. We extend our love of stories through story-extensions. During our time at the playground, we allow for unstructured time that activates children’s imagination and social skills.
