News from Sycamore
The Sycamores were so happy to be reunited after a long vacation. This week we've said goodbye to our New York City unit and will be exploring outer space and the planets of our solar system in the month of March.
We’re learning about the planets and the solar system in a variety of ways: through books, puzzles, matching cards, art projects, and from others friends too! We’re learning the different names of the planets and in what order they orbit the solar system.
Working with the Thousand Cube
In our math area, we introduced some friends to the concept of the mathematical powers of 10 using our concrete math materials. Using our golden beads, we explored the difference between 1, 10, 100, and 1000.
Other popular works around this time of year are counting “snowballs” for each snowmen and exploring, building, and matching with the knobless cylinders.
A bit of snow was a highlight this week. Even though it was slushy and mushy by the time we got outside, the Sycamores certainly made the best of it.
